GRATEFUL AND GENEROUS HEARTS

MATTHEW 22:37-40:

THIS PASSAGE IS AT THE HEART AND SOUL OF STEWARDSHIP:

GENEROUS IS WHAT GOD IS TO US !

GRATEFUL IS WHAT WE STRIVE TO BE TO HIM !

Only if we nourish and nurture the spiritual life – that is, learn to live in an ever deepening and loving relationship with God – will we ever be able to be aware of and acknowledge that all we have is a gift from God, a consequence of God’s grace, God’s loving presence and action in our lives.

Stewardship is not a program or campaign, and it is not about raising money for the church budget – it is a way of life that issues forth naturally from Christian faith and spiritual life.

Christian spirituality has two dimensions, one material and the other nonmaterial. For this reason when we discuss the spiritual life in the church we need to include the material, that is, money – The Economics of God, where one goes from asking “What do I need to give?” to “What do I have the right to keep?” We need be aware that there is a direct correlation between our relationship with God and our giving of ourselves and our economic resources to the service of God.

We need and should expect the church to remind us, encourage us, and support us in growing into an ever deepening and loving relationship with God so that we may become more faithful stewards of Trinity Church.

ALL COMES FROM GOD !! LET US STRIVE TO GIVE BACK TO HIM—IN OUR LOVE, IN OUR TIME AND IN OUR PLEDGING—WITH GRATEFUL AND GENEROUS HEARTS !!!
